25 Worst Hindi Movies - My Pick

Ever since I started blogging, I was contemplating this idea to put my list of worst movies ever. This list only includes movies I have seen. My criteria of putting a movie in this category are very simple. I have gauged the hype created and expectations generated by the movie before its release against the final outcome. Do remember that this is my list, I have not referred any public opinion or critics ratings.

Movie: Boom

Release Year: 2003

Misdirected by: Kaizad Gustad

Shitt Remarks: Undoubtedly, the worst movie I have ever seen. A film having star cast of Amitabh Bachchan,   Zeenat Aman (Can you enjoy a old Zeenat Aman doing cabaret ---yieeee), Jackie Shroff (In fact the movie was produced by his wife Ayesha Shroff), Javed Jaffrey, Padma Lakshmi, Madhu Sapre, and yes, The Katrina Kaif (Her debut film though). Can you ignore a movie with such a star power?

Movie: RGV Ki Aag

Release Year: 2007

Misdirected by: Ram Gopal Verma

Shitt Remarks: Do I need to elaborate? I had to fight with my friend to put it in this list, he was of the opinion that this wasn’t a movie at all.

Movie: Jaani Dushman – Ek Anokhi Kahani

Release Year: 2002

Misdirected by: Rajkumar Kohli

Shitt Remarks: Bollywood answer to The Terminator II– The Judgement Day. You have to grind your mind to find out who was not there in the movie,  Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Sunny Deol, Manisha Koirala, the list goes on. Hey Hey ... it also had Sonu Nigam, yes as an actor (sorry i could not find any other word, I have to term him as an actor only). The Kahani of the movie was so Anokha that nobody could understand.

Move: Guddu

Release Year: 1995

Misdirected by: Prem Lalwani

Shitt Remarks: Shahrukh Khan and Manisha Koirala, both at their prime, yes at their prime to pakao the Audience.

Movie: Zamana Deewana

Release Year: 1995

Misdirected by: Ramesh Shippy

Shitt Remarks: Again Shahrukh Khan this time with Raveena Tandon. The movie also had Satrughna Sinha and Jeetendra, the hit pair of Khudgarz. Above all the movie was directed by the legendry Ramesh Shippy. The Zamana didn’t become deewana and Mr. Shippy couldn’t tolerate the shock or perhaps somebody from the poorly frustrated audience must have threatened him, he hasn’t directed any movie after that.

Movie: Mela

Release Year: 2000

Misdirected by: Dharmesh Darshan

Shitt Remarks: The hit director Dharmesh Darshan and Amir Khan’s unique pairing. The perfectionist could have never been so imperfect.
Mela mein tumne Audience ke saath Khela Amir, Satyamev Jayate.

Movie: Trimurti

Release Year: 1995

Misdirected by: Mukul S. Anand

Shitt Remarks: Can you imagine, a movie produced by Subhash Ghai, directed by Mukul S. Anand and acted by Shahrukh Khan, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff, bombed at the box office. There was nothing in the movie that one can remember.
Duniya wale very good very good, Ghai sahab ki movie very bad very bad.

Movie: Chahat

Release Year: 1996

Misdirected by: Mahesh Bhatt

Shitt Remarks: The dream pairing of Mahesh Bhatt and Shahrukh Khan was presented to the audience for the first time along with the ever versatile Naseerudding Shah but the final product was a forgettable affair.

Iss Chahat se har koi hua ahat.

Movie: Duplicate

Release Year: 1998

Misdirected by: Mahesh Bhatt

Shitt Remarks: Once again Mahesh Bhatt failed to deliver and once again Shahrukh Khan overacted. After   the release of the movie both the actor and director would have searched for a duplicate.

Movie: Hello Brother

Release Year: 1999

Misdirected by: Sohail Khan

Shitt Remarks: An all family affair, directed by Sohail Khan and acted by Salman and Arbaz. Salman did everything but acting in the movie.

Movie: Saawariya

Release Year: 2007

Misdirected by: Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Shitt Remarks: SLB’s movie with Salman Khan, introduction of Ranbir and Sonam Kapoor, and Rani Mukherjee still in her heydays, yet the overconfidence of SLB spoilt everything. SLB hugely underrated the audience.

Note: Among those who have read this post, three of them had disagreed with Saawariya featuring in the list. Read the comment section.

Movie: Tees Maar Khan

Release Year: 2010

Misdirected by: Farah Khan

Shitt Remarks: I wonder, what Farah Khan was thinking while making this movie, or whether Farah Khan can actually think at all.

Movie: Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon

Release Year: 2003

Misdirected by: Sooraj Barjatya

Shitt Remarks: Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor, a dream cast, isn’t it? Under the then super hit banner of Rajshree Production. I hate to say, but in this movie Abhishek acted better than Hrithik, now you can understand the quality.

Movie: Whats your Rashee?

Release Year: 2009

Misdirected by: Ashutosh Gowarikar

Shitt Remarks: A movie under such a brilliant director, acted by Priyanka Chopra and the script inspired by hit TV series Mr. Yogi. Believe me, whatever I remember about the serial, it was far better in quality and humour. The serial was directed by Ketan   Mehta.

Movie: Drona

Release Year: 2009

Misdirected by: Goldie Behl

Shitt Remarks: A super hero film and you need to be a super human to watch this. Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra would have certainly erased this movie from their own movie list.

Movie: Yuvvraj

Release Year: 2008

Misdirected by: Subhash Ghai

Shitt Remarks: A film with a big star cast of Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. The movie was directed by the showman of Hindi Cinema, but the shows in the theatre didn’t attract any man. Ghai Saab added an extra V to add luck and victory but the audience read the two Vs as W and said WTF.

Movie: Mumbai Xpress

Release Year: 2005

Misdirected by: Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao
Shitt Remarks: The brilliance of Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao and Kamal Haasan, yet the movie was simply pathetic. It was promoted as a comedy and after watching the movie you will laugh at yourself.

Movie: Abhay (Aalavandhan in Tamil)

Release Year: 2001

Misdirected by: Suresh Krishna

Shitt Remarks: For a great admirer of the great Kamal Haasan, this was a bouncer that hit hard on the head. I could neither understand the movie nor the acting of Kamal Haasan.

Movie: Ek Aur Ek Gyarah

Release Year: 2003

Misdirected by: David Dhawan

Shitt Remarks: A movie produced by Subhash Ghai, Directed by David Dhawan and acted by earlier hit pair Govinda and Sanjay Dutt. This movie simply unwatchable.  The movie doomed again because the director underrated the audience.

Movie: Agent Vinod

Release Year: 2012

Misdirected by: Sriram Raghvan

Shitt Remarks: How could a director who made movie like Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddaar, made a movie like this. Hot pairing of Saif and Kareena and Saif being producer of the movie, they simply cheated the few audience that watched the movie.

Movie: Raavan

Release Year: 2010

Misdirected by: Mani Ratnam

Shitt Remarks: Govinda jumping trees and rhyming, and projected as Hanuman, do I need to say more?

Movie: Kites

Release Year: 2010

Misdirected by: Anurag Basu

Shitt Remarks: Hrithik Roshan under his father banner was perhaps too involved with Barbara Mori that he couldn’t realise when the string of his kite was cut-loose.

Movie: Yaadein

Release Year: 2001

Misdirected by: Subhash Ghai

Shitt Remarks: Hrithik and Kareena was paired for the first time under the direction of the showman himself. This was the beginning the fall of Subhash Ghai. Many would argue that the signs of the fall was already seen during Taal, but Taal was at least a hit.

Movie: Players

Release Year: 2012

Misdirected by: Abbas Mastan

Shitt Remarks: One of the most anticipated movie of 2012. If you want to learn how to spoil a good script, please watch this movie. This movie was inspired by The Italian Job. Magic and Illusion in a heist movie to Indianise the script, whatta shitt...

Movie: Tashan

Release Year: 2008

Misdirected by: Vijay Krishna Acharya

Shitt Remarks: The movie was of Yash Raj Banner, had actors like Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The number zero was quite popularised with this movie, Kareena had size zero, the acting of all the actors specially Anil Kapoor can be rated as zero and the net effect, the number of audience in the theater were zero.

Those were my pick of 25 films. But, a cake isn't complete without its icing, so allow me to decorate my list with the 26th movie.

Movie: RA.ONE

Release Year: 2011

Misdirected by: Anubhav Sinha

Shitt Remarks: Shahrukh had claimed before the release of the movie that it has more special effects than   ‘Avataar’. Now that was a big statement. When I saw the movie and saw Shahrukh’s avatar, I had to agree with his statement, even James Cameron had failed to make a dinosaur look like a human. None of the movies in the history of Indian Cinema had created such a hype, but miserably failed to live up to that expectation.

Though I had not considered public opinion for this post, I have realised that you cannot  ignore them either. So after a few responses, I have decided that I will put a remark in the post itself.

  4. I haven't watched most of the movies you've listed but yeah, had heard that they were big disappointments.

There are a few movies which were not liked by many but they had some thing or the other interesting in them which should make them undeserving of the spot in a 'worst films' list. Whaddaya say? :D

Say '1 aur 1 11' was a purely comedy movie and finding a story base would be unfair as, in parts, it served its purpose. Don't rem... watched when I was too small.

Then there was Saawariya and Tashan which had their own good points. Of course, that's my own view point but I appreciate you being flexible with the post.

    1. Thanks Vaishali for visiting... Well Saawariya you are the third one voting for, so I will add a noting in the post... As far as Ek aur ek Gyarah is concerned, for me it was big disappointment, the director / actors pair had delivered laugh riots in the past and this movie came no where close. Well for Tashan-Frankly, for me it was a big disappointment. Anyways I register your vote.

  9. These are definitely not the 25 worst movies ever. I dont think you are a movie buff because if you had watched Superman(1987),Loha(1997),Hind Ki Beti,Sultaan (2000),Marshal ,Sabse Bada Beiman or Sabse Badkar Hum you would have included these in the list.

Threatening friends with GajGamini and RGV's Aag always worked for me. They surrender unconditionally :-D
